MY STORY

Hi, I’m Jenna, a crochet blanket designer creating clear, easy-to-follow crochet blanket patterns for modern makers who love the slow, intentional art of crochet.

Crochet has been part of my life for years. I first picked up a hook in my 20s as a way to keep myself still and busy (a unique combination, and honestly, one of the best parts of this hobby). My mom and sister both crocheted before I did, inspiring me to try it for myself, but I’m mostly self-taught. What began as a quiet pastime slowly became a grounding ritual, something steady I could return to at the end of the day.

I’ve always been drawn to making blankets. There’s something about the repetition and familiar rhythm of working the rows of a blanket that feels like a reset. My hands stay busy while I reflect on the day, listen to an audiobook, or sit fully present in conversation. Crocheting keeps me anchored.

At first, I gifted or donated nearly every blanket I made, and that brought me so much joy. While I still love sharing finished pieces, I’ve found even greater fulfillment in designing patterns that help other crocheters succeed.

Structured patterns with your own personal touch.

A logo with a large letter 'M' in black, enclosed by a gray curved shape on each side, and a gray heart shape in the middle with a black outline.

I remember being the one searching for clear instructions, hoping I was doing it right and that my finished blanket would actually look like the photo.

It wasn’t always easy to find! That’s why I design crochet blanket patterns that are structured, detailed, and reliable. Each pattern includes step-by-step photos and thorough written instructions, so you can confidently recreate exactly what you see, or use the pattern as a blueprint to make it your own. I also share different color and size options on social media to inspire creativity and show what’s possible.

Bringing comfort to your hands and your home.

The dogwood trees outside my childhood home are what inspired the name Blooming Dogwood Designs. They remind me that no matter where this journey takes me, a piece of home is embedded into everything I create. I’m all about the simple pleasures, the comfort of familiarity, and the cozy warmth of something made by hand.

At its heart, Blooming Dogwood Designs is about more than blankets. It’s about slowing down, finding rhythm, and creating comfort for yourself and for the people you love.

I’m so glad you’re here. Happy making!

  • “I have been following Jenna and Blooming Dogwood Designs for a very long time. I think hers was the first crochet account on Instagram I started following. I'm a huge fan of her patterns and her! I have been a tester for a few of her blankets, and her style is absolutely stunning. I also love that she is super organized and clear about what she is looking for in her testers. I enjoyed working on all of her blankets, but her Sasha stripes pattern is my absolute favorite. Textured and lovely 2-row repeat pattern - I've made at least 4 of them. Her page is always an inspirational go-to, and I'm looking forward to seeing what new things she comes up with.”
